ROTATIONAL KINDERGARTEN GROUPS
A rotational model means that we divide our enrolments into 4 small groups and each group will be allocated 3 X 5 hour sessions per week – a total of 15 hours per child.
Each session, three of the groups come together to form the kinder group for that day. Your child will always attend with the children in their group, but will also have the opportunity each week to get to know and play with the children in the other three groups.
This is a fabulous model as it helps children to build friendships with a greater number of children that they would not normally meet in a traditional style sessional program model.
The more familiar faces at kindergarten the better, as this will prepare them for the large number of new faces at school.
Rotational groupings allow the children to branch out their friendships with each group having a slightly different dynamic, this can lead to minimization of “clickiness” and social exclusion. Children also become better prepared to deal with break times at school, as they become use to the availability of different children to play with.
Children are able to explore interests in the same way as the traditional sessional program model, however may be exposed to new ideas and creative thinking through the variation in participants. The other benefit to parents is more freedom in the selection of days, with greater combinations possible. It also has provided us with an opportunity to have consistent starting and finishing times
